Threat to Salman Khan: Court Remands Accused to Mumbai Crime Branch Custody

A Mumbai court has remanded accused Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar to the custody of Crime Branch until June 20 in connection with threats made against actor Salman Khan.

“Mumbai Police stated that Banwari Lal Gurjar, arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch from Rajasthan for threatening to kill actor Salman Khan, appeared in court today after his police custody expired. The court has remanded the accused Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar to the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch until June 20,” the police said.

Involvement with Lawrence Bishnoi Gang

“Mumbai Police added that the arrested accused is associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. During discussions about the Lawrence Bishnoi gang on a YouTube channel, he mentioned plans to harm Salman Khan,” they added.

On June 16, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar from Borda village in Rajasthan for threatening to kill Salman Khan.

The police mentioned that the accused, Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar (25), spoke about the Bishnoi Gang’s plans to kill the actor in a video posted on the YouTube channel “Are Chhodo Yar.”

He is being brought to Mumbai from Borda village in Rajasthan for further investigation, they stated.

The offence was registered at the South Cyber Police Station in Mumbai under Sections 506(2), 504, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 66(d) of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

In view of the seriousness of the case, a team was dispatched to Rajasthan for investigation, resulting in the arrest of the accused.

Investigation and Statements

Earlier, on June 4, the Mumbai Crime Branch recorded the statements of actor Salman Khan and his brother Arbaaz Khan regarding the firing incident that occurred outside their Bandra residence in April.

According to Mumbai Police officials, Salman’s statement lasted nearly four hours, while Arbaaz’s statement took more than two hours.

In his statement, Salman Khan informed the police about the events of the night of the incident. He stated that he was at home on the day of the incident and had been awake late into the night due to a party at his residence. He was awoken by the sound of gunfire later that night, according to the police.

Salman described the incident as serious and expressed gratitude to the Mumbai Police for their investigation efforts.

On 24^th April, the firing incident occurred outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Subsequent arrests revealed connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting the Mumbai Police to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all involved in the shooting.
