Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) On Wednesday, stated that senior citizens and people with disabilities would be able to vote from home.
The CEO told media that the vote-from-home option is only available to senior citizens over the age of 80.
He also stated that an adequate number of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) have arrived in the state for the upcoming elections, and that the flag march and night patrolling are underway.
The Tripura CEO in its press statement said that, “The adequate number of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs) have reached Tripura and the flag march and night patrolling are also being done. We want fair, transparent and peaceful polls,” he added.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), voting for Assembly Elections 2023 will take place in Tripura on February 16, and in Nagaland and Manipur on February 27.
The ECI also stated that the results of these assembly elections will be announced on March 2.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the Tripura State Assembly elections, Agartala police have increased security throughout the city.
AK Das, sub-divisional police officer, stated, “We have set up 14 nakas to ensure that there is no movement of illegal cash, weapons, narcotics and other material. Announcement for polls likely to happen in 1-2 days.”
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence on Wednesday that the BJP will win more assembly seats than ever before in the upcoming February 16 Assembly elections, adding that the BJP has always worked for the people regardless of elections.
The Chief Minister said, “Our party always works for the people irrespective of elections. We are fully prepared for the upcoming polls. We are confident of winning more Assembly seats than before.”
According to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, “There are more than 62.8 lakh electors combined in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura including – 31.47 lakh female electors, 97,000 80+ voters, and 31,700 PwD voters. Over 1.76 lakh first-time voters to participate in the elections in 3 states.”
