UP Court Sentences Life Imprisonment to Ex-Minister Son in 2015 Advocate Murder Case

Life Imprisonment

Alok Yadav, the son of former minister Angad Yadav, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the 2015 murder of an advocate.

Additionally, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Alok Yadav.

Earlier, on April 28, the court had pronounced four other defendants, including Angad Yadav, guilty in the same case.

The incident dates back to December 2015 when advocate Rajnarayan Singh was fatally shot under an over-bridge near a railway station falling under the jurisdiction of Sidhari police station. Sudha Singh, his wife, had lodged a police complaint naming Angad Yadav, a former Bahujan Samaj Party MLA from Nizamabad, and several others.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Angad Yadav had a personal dispute with Rajanarayan Singh.

Initially, the police had filed a charge-sheet against Angad Yadav, Sailesh Yadav, Sunil Singh, and Arun Yadav. In April, the MP-MLA court, presided over by Justice Om Prakash Verma, had pronounced them guilty.

Subsequently, another charge-sheet was filed against the former minister’s son, leading to his conviction by the same court recently.
