Adv. Vineet Jindal Files Complaint Against Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Sikh’ Remarks

A complaint has been lodged against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by Vineet Jindal, a Supreme Court lawyer, over remarks he made during his US visit on September 9. Jindal filed the complaint with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, NIA Director General, and Delhi Police Commissioner.

Gandhi’s comments, made during an event organized by the Indian Overseas Congress, suggested that the fight in India today is about whether Sikhs can wear their turbans, kadas, and visit Gurdwaras. Jindal argues that these statements are inflammatory and aim to incite division within communities for political gain. He claims there have been no reported incidents of Sikhs being prevented from visiting Gurdwaras or wearing turbans, and accuses Gandhi of trying to stir unrest for political benefit.

In his complaint, Jindal described Gandhi’s remarks as “hate speech” intended to create communal discord and impact internal security. He expressed concern that Gandhi’s statements have been supported by the banned Khalistani group “Sikh for Justice,” which could use the remarks to incite further hatred.

Jindal has requested that an FIR be filed against Gandhi under sections related to inciting communal hatred and disrupting national security. He also asked for Gandhi’s passport to be revoked and for a ban on future foreign travel, arguing that his comments could undermine India’s image and security.

During his interaction with the Indian diaspora in the US, Gandhi said, “The fight is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear his turban, his kada, and go to the Gurdwara in India. It’s not just about politics; it’s about basic rights for all religions.”
