Bhojshala: Supreme Court Refuses Muslims Plea to Stay ASI Survey

The Muslim community has again suffered a big blow in the Bhojshala case. The Supreme Court refused to immediately hear his petition against the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey. In the petition filed by Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society, a demand was made to stay the High Court order related to the survey.

Following the instructions of Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court, ASI started the survey in Bhojshala premises on Friday. Despite the Muslim side’s appeal to the Supreme Court, the request was immediately rejected. The case is pending without a date fixed for hearing, while the ASI survey continues uninterrupted.

Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, appearing for the Hindu side, confirmed that the ASI survey will continue. He clarified that no specific date has been set for the Supreme Court hearing, which will be seen whenever it is scheduled. Meanwhile, the ASI team along with the local police and district authorities started the survey with adequate security measures to ensure peace in the area.

The Bhojshala complex in Dhar district holds significance for both Hindus and Muslims. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed ASI to conduct a scientific survey within six weeks. While Hindus consider this complex to be the temple of Vagdevi (Saraswati), Muslims claim it as Kamal Maula Masjid. Despite differing beliefs, both communities have historically been allowed entry for worship at the site on specific days under ASI orders issued in 2003.
