BPSC Examination Row: SC Directs Petitioner To Approach Patna HC

The Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear a petition demanding the cancellation and re-conducting of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) preliminary examination.

The plea also demanded the preservation of CCTV footage from the examination centers citing concerns over the integrity of the Examination

The bench led by Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna asked the petitioner, Anand Legal and Forum Trust to approach the Patna High Court.

Matter has already been pending in the High Court. The court is scheduled to hear the matter on February 14.

During the hearing of the case, CJI Khanna noted that SC should not be the first court to address such matters.

The petitioners’ lawyer had also raised concerns about a lathi charge that occurred near the house of the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and requested the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the issue.
However, the Supreme Court refrained from intervening at this stage.

Background

BPSC had released the advertisement for the 70th Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination on September 23 last year and the examination was conducted on December 13.

It was alleged in the petition that question papers were not provided to many candidates.
