Chandrachud Joins Global Legal Leaders at J20 Summit
The Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud, is expected to participate in the J20 Summit being held in Brazil. The J20 Summit gathers presidents from the Supreme and Constitutional Courts of G20 nations, alongside representatives from the African Union and the European Union.
The aim of this summit is to foster dialogue on pressing legal matters. Scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro from May 12–14, the “J20—Summit of Heads of Supreme Courts and Constitutional Courts of G20 Members” brings together 20 heads of superior courts, including the Chief Justice of India.
It centers around three pivotal themes: “Promotion of citizenship and social inclusion by the Judiciary; Climate litigation and sustainable development; and Digital transformation and leveraging technology for enhanced judicial efficiency.”
According to the official list, participants hail from a diverse array of entities, including the African Union, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, Portugal, and Spain.
