MAHARASHTRA POLITICAL FIASCO
- A Constitution bench of the Supreme Court to hear the two pleas filed by the Eknath Shinde camp of the Shiv Sena challenging the disqualification notices issued against 16 rebel lawmakers who switched sides. The court will pronounce order on the aspect of whether or not to refer SCs 2016 Nebam Rabia ruling dealing with power of speaker to deal with disqualification pleas during pendency of notice seeking his removal in house to 7 judge bench.
DELHI MAYOR ELECTIONS
- Court to hear the fresh plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi and others seeking early holding of the mayoral election for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala took note of the submissions of a lawyer, appearing for the AAP, seeking urgent hearing of the plea.
