Court at a glance: Supreme Court will hear the petition of social media ‘influencer’ Rana Ayyub

  • The Supreme Court will decide on the petition filed by the temple services on the issue of the proposed corridor of the famous Bankebihari temple in Mathura. The temple services have challenged the Allahabad High Court’s action so far that the redevelopment plan of the temple is being considered without taking their opinion.
    The services have challenged the suggestion given in the High Court’s order dated 20 December 2022 in the Supreme Court.
  • Supreme Court to hear tomorrow the contempt of court case filed against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra… Kamra had made derogatory remarks against the Supreme Court and the judge in his comment on a Supreme Court decision.
  • The Supreme Court will hear a petition seeking directions to set up Right to Information (RTI) web portals in all states. The petition has been filed by Pravasi Legal Cell. In which it was said that except Delhi and Maharashtra, no state has set up an online RTI portal.
  • The Supreme Court will hear on January 23 the petition filed by ride hailing and food delivery application Rapido. Ride hailing and food delivery app Rapido has challenged the Bombay High Court order that last week directed it to immediately stop its services in Maharashtra.
  • The Supreme Court will hear the petition filed by BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa. In the last hearing, the court had asked Yeddyurappa to implead the Karnataka government in his petition. The High Court had on September 7 restored a private complaint against BJP Yeddyurappa and his family members for allegedly taking bribes for awarding government contracts. While the local court had dismissed the petition regarding the investigation into the allegations of corruption against Yeddyurappa.
  • A social media activist named Rana Ayyub has filed a petition against the summons received from the Ghaziabad court. The Supreme Court will hear today. It is alleged that Rana Ayyub has illegally collected funds from the general public in the name of charity by running a campaign through an online crowd-funding platform, ‘Keto’. As per the ED investigation, the funds raised on the online platform were transferred to the accounts of Ayub’s father and sister. The Ghaziabad court has issued summons on this, the Supreme Court will hear the petition against these summons.
  • The Supreme Court will hear the petition filed by the CBI against the bail granted to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in the Rs 100 crore extortion case. . On December 12, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Anil Deshmukh on a personal bond of one lakh. Along with this, the High Court had given CBI 10 days time to appeal against the bail order.

  • All the arrested accused will be produced in the court in Rohini Court in Kanjhawala death case.. In the last hearing, the Court had directed the Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police to visit the spot to avoid tampering with the technical evidence in the Kanjhawala death case. Available CCTV footage should be preserved immediately.
  • The Supreme Court will hear the petition filed against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In fact, during the public meeting, CM Yogi was accused of hurting religious sentiments on the basis of the statement made on Bajrangbali in the public meeting held in Alwar district of Rajasthan in 2018. This petition has been dismissed by the High Court
  • The Delhi High Court will hear the Sunanda Pushkar death case. In fact, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Shashi Tharoor in the case of Sunanda Pushkar’s death. The Delhi High Court issued this notice on an application seeking condonation of delay in filing the revision petition by the Delhi Police.
  • The Patiala House Court will hear the case related to Sukesh Chandrasekhar. In this case, the debate is going on regarding framing of charges on the charge sheet filed by the EOW. Pinky Irani’s lawyer had said that only possibility cannot be worked out, the investigating agency will have to tell from where the proceeds of crime came.
  • Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA Durgesh Pathak and Vikas Goyal will appear in a defamation case. This whole controversy is related to a press conference in January 2020. The two leaders then raised the issue of alleged corruption in the collection of property tax by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation. In this case, the councilors of the Bharatiya Janata Party had filed a petition in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand.
  • The Delhi High Court will hear a petition by the Delhi Police in the alleged phone tapping case in Rajasthan. Recently, the court has sought response from the Special Assistant Officer to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, in which it was directed not to take punitive action against the officer in the alleged phone tapping case. Delhi Police claims that Gehlot’s OSD Lokesh Sharma and Rajasthan Police are misusing the interim relief granted by the High Court and delaying the investigation of the case.
  • The Supreme Court will hear the bail plea filed by Shashi Prakash, the then executive engineer arrested in the MNREGA scam case in Jharkhand. In this case, suspended IAS Pooja Singhal has got bail from the Supreme Court on medical grounds.
