Delhi Excise Policy: Arvind Kejriwal Withdraws Plea from SC

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday withdrew his plea from the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s interim stay on a trial court’s bail order in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Arvind Kejriwal, informed a vacation bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti that in light of the detailed June 25 order from the high court and recent developments, including Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI, they intended to file a substantive appeal.

Singhvi stated their intention to challenge the high court’s decision to stay the bail order and present all relevant details.

The bench accepted Singhvi’s submission and granted liberty to file the appeal.

Earlier today, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court had allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to arrest the AAP convenor formally in connection with the alleged excise scam.

On Tuesday (25th June), the high court had stayed the trial court’s bail order, citing the lower court’s alleged failure to properly consider the evidence presented by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
