The mayor’s election matter in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has now reached the country’s Top court. Aam Aadmi Party’s mayor candidate Shaili Oberoi has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Shelly Oberoi has alleged in her petition that there is a deliberate delay in holding the mayoral election. In such a situation, the Supreme Court should intervene in this matter and order for an early election. Sources told regally speaking that Shelly Aubrey may request the Supreme Court for an early hearing on her petition on Friday.
The Aam Aadmi Party won the municipal elections held in December, ending the BJP’s 15-year rule. In the 250-member corporation, where the Aam Aadmi Party won 134 seats, the BJP could get only 104 seats, while the Congress got 9 and others 3 seats. Due to distance of Congress from mayor election, there will be total 150 members of Aam Aadmi Party out of 274 members of electoral in the election of mayor.
