Delhi riots: ‘Khalid was in constant touch’ Sharjeel files petition in SC against Delhi HC Remarks

Delhi riots accused  Sharjeel Imam on Tuesday filed a petition in Supreme Court seeking to expunge observation of Delhi High court saying he and Umar Khalid were in constant touch.
Imam in his plea says, “there is absolutely no evidence on record to justify the Impugned observations.”

Imam said that the remarks were made in complete defiance of the law laid down by the Supreme Court and that he is aggrieved by such remarks as it vitiates his right to a fair trial.

Denying bail, the high court said that Khalid was constantly in touch with Sharjeel Imam, who was arguably ‘at the head of the conspiracy’ and also referred to Imam as the main conspirator in one of the paragraphs.
