Diamond Jubilee: PM Modi to Inaugurate Supreme Court’s 75th Year with Technological Initiatives

Diamond Jubilee

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Supreme Court of India on Sunday noon at the apex court premises.

In commemoration of the 75th year of the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister will unveil citizen-centric information and technology initiatives, including Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi SCR), Digital Courts 2.0, and the new website of the Supreme Court, as stated in a release from the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday.

During this special occasion, the Prime Minister will also address the gathering.

The Digital Supreme Court Reports (SCR) initiative aims to provide Supreme Court judgments to the citizens of the country free of charge and in electronic format. Notably, all 519 volumes of the Supreme Court reports since 1950, covering 36,308 cases, will be available in a digital format with features such as bookmarking, user-friendliness, and open access.

As part of the e-Courts project, the Digital Courts 2.0 application is a recent endeavor to make court records electronically accessible to district court judges. This initiative incorporates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time speech-to-text transcription.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new bilingual website of the Supreme Court, presented in English and Hindi. The redesigned website boasts a user-friendly interface to enhance accessibility for the public.
