Eknath Shinde Filed A Caveat: Shiv Sena Symbol & Name Reached SC

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday filed a caveat application in the Supreme Court regarding the name of Shiv Sena and its election symbol.

Shinde stated in his application that if Uddhav Thackeray files a petition challenging the election commission’s decision, then the Supreme Court should not issue any order without listening to his side.

Therefore, before the BMC elections on Friday, Uddhav Thackeray suffered a major setback. Certainly, the party symbol “bow & arrow has gone to the Shinde faction. The Election Commission stated in its order that the Shiv Sena’s present constitution is undemocratic. It’s been tarnished for undemocratically appointing people of faction as the office bearers without elections.

The decision of the Election Commission is considered as historic as it can lead to a far-reaching impact on the parties. The Election Commission suggested all political parties follow basic principles while creating democratic values in the party’s internal affairs.

Earlier, the Election Commission had frozen Shiv Sena’s election symbol bow and arrow. The Shinde faction gave the symbol of two swords and a shield. Similarly, the Uddhav Thackeray camp was given the election symbol of a burning torch. By-elections were held in the Andheri East assembly seat in November last year.
