The Supreme court will hear on Tuesday, a batch of petitions filed by shiv sena, a faction lead by Maharashtra Chief minister Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray.
The Uddhav group had raised several constitutional questions related to defection, merger and disqualification, and the power of the Speaker.
Petitions filed by each faction against one another pertained to situations as witnessed in the state in the wake of Eknath Shinde’s rebellion following which the MVA govt collapsed and a new govt was formed by Shinde faction with support from BJP.
