Every Drop Counts! Delhi Govt Moves SC Seeking Additional Water Supply from Neighbouring States

Delhi

The Delhi government has approached the Supreme Court, seeking directive for Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to supply more water to the crisis-hit national capital, sources said on Friday.

The AAP government in Delhi has informed the top court that the city’s water demand has surged significantly due to heatwave conditions, and has requested that neighbouring Haryana and Uttar Pradesh be directed to release additional water for a month, they added.

The city government emphasized that it is the responsibility of all parties to work towards meeting Delhi’s water needs.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday urged the BJP to instruct its governments in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to provide water to the national capital for a month.

The national capital has been experiencing a severe water shortage, and Water Minister Atishi has accused Haryana of not releasing Delhi’s allocated share of water.
