Fodder Scam Case: Lalu Yadav Challenges CBI Plea Opposing His Bail In SC

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has recently responded in the Supreme Court to the CBI’s petition opposing bail in the fodder scam case.

Yadav stated that challenging the High Court’s decision to suspend the sentence only on the basis of CBI’s dissatisfaction with the ruling is not admissible. He stated, there is no need to interfere with the High Court’s decision as it is based on common principles and equal norms.

In the affidavit, the former Chief Minister of Bihar cited deteriorating health and advancing age as reasons why his continued detention by the Central Bureau of Investigation would not serve any purpose.

The CBI then sought the cancellation of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s bail in the Supreme Court.

The CBI has challenged his bail in the Dumka, Chaibasa, Dhanbad, and Deoghar cases.

Under the fodder scam, Yadav was sentenced to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹60 lakh on February 21 last year by a special CBI court in the case of embezzlement exceeding ₹139 crore from the Doranda treasury.

The High Court granted him bail in the Doranda treasury embezzlement case on April 22, 2022.
