Hasin Jahan Moves To SC To Lift Stay On Mohammad Shami’s Arrest

Hasin Jahan who is the estranged wife of Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami, has moved to the Supreme Court for resuming criminal trial against him on demand of dowry charges and domestic violence.

In her plea before the top court, Jahan asserted that Shami demanded dowry and also, he was continuously involved in illicit extra-marital relationships.

In January this year, a Kolkata court ordered Mohammad Shami to pay a monthly alimony of ₹50,000 to Jahan.

In 2019, the West Bengal’s sessions court stayed the arrest warrant issued against Shami. Also, it had stayed the criminal trial against Shami.

Thereafter, Jahan moved Calcutta High Court which also disperse the plea prompting to the present plea before the top court.

Further, the plea claimed that Shami was involved in “affairs sexual affairs with prostitutes, especially during his BCCI tours, in the hotel rooms.”

Shami used his 2nd mobile phone to manage all his affairs with prostitutes and the said that the phone was seized by Lal Bazaar Police in Kolkata related to the present crime.

The plea stated that, “However, Mr. Shami still continues to be involved in sexual activities with prostitutes.”

Furthermore, the plea said that for the last 4 years, trial hasn’t progressed and has remained stayed, and Shami hasn’t appeared before the trial court and hasn’t even applied for bail. Therefore, the plea has been filed through advocate Deepak Prakash, assisted by advocates Nachiketa Vajpayee and Divyangna Malik.
