‘Inadvertent Error’: SC Orders Removal of Bansuri Swaraj’s Name from Sanjay Singh’s Bail Order

Bansuri Swaraj

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the removal of advocate Bansuri Swaraj’s name from its bail order for AAP leader Sanjay Singh, following the Enforcement Directorate’s assertion that her inclusion was due to an “inadvertent error”.

A bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna responded, “Ok, we will correct the order.”

Appearing for the probe agency, Advocate Zoheb Hussain stated that Swaraj neither appeared in the case nor represented the agency. “Due to some inadvertent error her name is reflected in the appearance slip,” Hussain clarified.

Bansuri Swaraj is a BJP candidate from the New Delhi parliamentary constituency.

On Tuesday, the apex court granted bail to Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam, after the Enforcement Directorate expressed no objections.

Singh, who had been incarcerated for six months, was ordered to be released by a bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Dipankar Datta, and Justice P B Varale.
