Manipur: Victim Files Fresh Petition in Supreme Court

A Fresh petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding Manipur. This petition has been filed by the victims of the incident. The victims have filed an application in the Supreme Court requesting that their identity not be disclosed.

These women were paraded naked after being raped on May 4 in Manipur’s Nongpok Sekmai area amid incidents of caste violence. A video of this incident was made and released which has gone viral. The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of this. Have sought answers from the governments. The coming of the victims directly to the Supreme Court and requesting the Supreme Court to investigate the incident, punish the culprits and not reveal their identity shows its poignancy and seriousness.

However, the Central Government has given an affidavit in the Supreme Court informing about the security measures taken in Manipur.
