The Supreme Court on Wednesday has granted conditional bail to Anil Jindal, Chairman of the SRS Group, in the ongoing multi-crore fraud case against him.
The top court bench led by Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna directed Jindal to submit his passport to the lower court as part of the conditions for his bail.
Considering the gravity of the case, Jindal is required to disclose details of his assets to the court.
The High court had earlier rejected the bail to Jindal agfter hwich he moved the Supreme Court.
Emphasizing the need for a swift resolution, the top court has also instructed the lower court to expedite the trial proceedings in this high-profile case.
The case has attracted widespread attention due to the scale of the alleged financial misappropriation.
Anil Jindal and associates are accused of being involved in a fraud amounting to approximately ₹30,000 crore.
In 2018, the Faridabad police arrested Anil Jindal, chairman and managing director of the SRS Group of Companies, along with four of his associates, at a hotel in Delhi.
They were charged with cheating, fraud, and ‘duping’ innocent investors of their hard-earned money.
