OROP: SC Orders Centre, Pay All Dues to Retired Defense Personnel by March 15

The Supreme Court has issued a major order on Monday regarding One Rank One Pension. The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to pay arrears to all eligible pensioners of security forces by March 15. OROP is paid to Armed Forces personnel who retire in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.

Attorney General R Venkataramani appeared on behalf of the Central Government, he said that I am personally monitoring the matter and the payment will be started soon. There are 25 lakh pensioners. The list has come to the Ministry for final screening and is with the Finance Section of the Ministry of Defence. But the court said that by March 15, all the eligible pensioners of the security forces should pay their arrears.

According to the list released by the Central Government, the pensioners who have now retired from the rank of constable will now get a pension of about 20 thousand rupees. Along with this, arrears of Rs 87 thousand will be paid to the pensioners of constable rank for the time period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. The same pensioners who retired from the post of Nayak will be paid pension of about Rs 21 thousand and arrears of Rs 1,14,000.
