Amid reports of a question paper leak, a group of candidates has approached the Supreme Court seeking a fresh NEET-UG 2024 examination.
Examination Details
The examination was held on May 5. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.
The results are expected to be declared on June 14, 2024.
The plea, filed by Shivangi Mishra and others, has named the NTA as a respondent and raised concerns about the integrity of the test, calling for a fresh examination. The petitioners alleged that the NEET-UG test held on May 5 was plagued with malpractices, citing various instances of paper leaks.
Constitutional Violation
The alleged paper leak is claimed to be a violation of Article 14 (right to equality) under the Constitution, as it provided an unfair advantage to some candidates over others who attempted the examination honestly.
The plea, filed on June 1 through lawyer Usha Nandini V, is expected to be listed before a vacation bench this week.
