The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the elevation of 14 advocates to the bench of the Bombay High Court. The recommendations were made through 2 separate resolutions.
First Resolution: 8 Advocates Recommended
In the first resolution, the collegium proposed the names of the following advocates:
- Siddheshwar Sundarrao Thombre
- Mehroz Ashraf Khan Pathan
- Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale
- Sandesh Dadasaheb Patil
- Shreeram Vinayak Shirsat
- Hiten Shamrao Venegavkar
- Rajnish Ratnakar Vyas
- Raj Damodar Wakode
Through A Separate Resolution, 6 More Names Were Recommended
- Nandesh Shankarrao Deshpande
- Amit Satyavan Jamsandekar
- Ashish Sahadev Chavan
- Vaishali Nimbajirao Patil-Jadhav
- Abasaheb Dharmaji Shinde
- Farhan Parvez Dubash
Notable Positions Held
Among the recommended advocates, Hiten Shamrao Venegavkar is currently serving as the Chief Public Prosecutor for Maharashtra, while Farhan Parvez Dubash is the Secretary of the Bombay Bar Association.
The collegium’s recommendations will now be forwarded to the Union Law Ministry, which will process the names before they are sent to the President for approval and appointment. Once cleared, the Bombay High Court will see a significant addition to its strength with the induction of these 14 new judges.
