SC Collegium Recommends Justice Deepak Tiwari As Permanent Judge Of Chhattisgarh HC

The Supreme Court Collegium has put forth the recommendation to appoint Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, who currently serves as an Additional Judge, as a permanent Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Earlier, on April 11, 2023, the Collegium of the Chhattisgarh High Court had proposed Justice Tiwari’s name for the permanent Judgeship.

A Committee comprising two Supreme Court Judges examined the judgments delivered by Justice Tiwari. The Collegium thoroughly examined and assessed the material presented on record to determine his merit and suitability for the permanent Judgeship appointment.

“Having considered all aspects of the matter, the Collegium is of the view that Shri Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Additional Judge is fit and suitable for being appointed as a permanent Judge,” the resolution reads.

Justice Tiwari started his judicial career in 1990 when he began as a Civil Judge, Class-II. Throughout his journey, he has held notable positions such as the District & Sessions Judge of Rajnandgaon and Balod.

Additionally, he contributed his expertise as the Additional Director of the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy and held various significant roles within the Registry of the Chhattisgarh High Court. Prior to his appointment as an Additional Judge of the High Court on October 8, 2021, Justice Tiwari served as the Registrar General of the High Court.
