SC Criticizes Delhi Government’s Delay In Delhi-Meerut RRTS Project Implementation

RRTS Project

The Supreme Court on Monday expressed dissatisfaction with the Delhi government’s delay in implementing the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) project.

Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul’s Bench was informed that the government had not allocated funds for the project.

The Court questioned the government’s allocation of funds for advertisements while lacking sufficient funds for a crucial transportation project. It demanded a detailed account of the Delhi government’s expenditure on RRTS advertisements over the past three financial years.

The Delhi-Meerut RRTS is a semi-high-speed rail corridor aimed at connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. Currently under construction, it is one of the planned rapid rail corridors in Phase I of the RapidX project.
