The Supreme Court of India has declined to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking disclosure of data related to alleged discrepancies in the vote counting by the poll panel during this year’s general elections.
A bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra stated, “We are dismissing it… Elections have been held. The government has been formed. Please do not file these kinds of PILs (public interest litigations).”
The PIL, filed by Priya Mishra, requested a directive for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to release the data on the vote counting conducted during the recent general elections. It alleged discrepancies in the vote counting process.
The general election results were declared on June 4, resulting in the NDA government led by Narendra Modi returning to power.
