SC Sets Record, Disposes of 384 Cases in a Day, CJI DY Chandrachud Says Bail on Priority

In the first 1 month and 7 days after Chief Justice DY Chandrachud was sworn in on November 9 this year, i.e. till December 16, the Supreme Court disposed of 6,844 cases. 2,511 petitions filed for obtaining bail and transfer of cases. During the same period, 5,898 new cases have also been filed in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court disposed of the maximum number of 384 cases on 12 December.

On December 12, the Supreme Court disposed of 105 transfer petitions and 71 bail petitions.

384 cases This is the largest number of cases to be disposed of in a day during the tenure of Chief Justice Chandrachud.

The Chief Justice has already made it clear that this decision has been taken with the consent of all the judges and his priority will be to hear bail applications.

Recently, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju had said that the Supreme Court should hear big constitutional matters, not bail matters.
