SC Stays Allahabad HC Order to Hold Civic Bodies Poll, Big Relief for UP Govt

The Supreme Court has stayed Allahabad High Court Order regarding Urban Local Bodies Poll in Uttar Pradesh. In stay order SC mention that The Government of Uttar Pradesh has issued a notification dated Dec 28, 2022 constituting the UP State Local bodies Dedicated Backward Classes Commission. Since the tenure of some of the local bodies has already expired or is expected to expire around 31st Jan 2023.

It is submitted that the commission will try to complete its work by March, in view if the same, the High Court’s direction shall be STAYED. To make sure that the local bodies are not hampered, government shall delegate its powers. Issue Notice on all applications.
