SC Stays HC Order Invalidating JDS MP Prajwal Revanna Membership Null & Void

The Supreme Court recently stayed the Karnataka High Court order that invalidated the Lok Sabha membership of JDS MP Prajwal Revanna.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud presided over a three-judge bench that implemented the stay on the Karnataka High Court’s decision,

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud stayed the Karnataka High Court order which had nullified Revanna’s election.

The Karnataka High Court had nullified the Lok Sabha membership of JDS MP Prajwal Revanna, citing that he had submitted a false affidavit to the Election Commission during the 2019 general election. The petitioner, Prajwal Revanna, subsequently challenged the Karnataka High Court’s ruling in the Supreme Court.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, secured victory in the 2019 election from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency as a joint candidate representing JDS and Congress.
