The order has recently come from a public interest litigation filed by S Rajaseekaran, seeking directions for the Union Road Transport Ministry to take coordinated efforts to prevent road accidents.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued orders to form a steering committee to address these issues.
The Court is also focused on enforcing the Motor Vehicles Act, especially Section 136A, which deals with electronic monitoring and enforcement of road safety.
In its latest order, the Bench mentioned that it will also consider directing the formation of State and Central portals to facilitate the payment of compensation.
