SC To Organize 2-Days National Conference Of District Judiciary

National Conference Of District Judiciary

The Supreme Court of India will host a two-day National Conference of the District Judiciary on August 31 and September 1, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam.

Over 800 participants from district courts across India will attend.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference and release a commemorative coin and postal stamp marking 75 years of the Supreme Court. Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will also be present.

President Droupadi Murmu will give the valedictory address on September 1 and unveil the Supreme Court’s new flag and insignia.

Under the guidance of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, the conference will feature six sessions. Topics include enhancing “Infrastructure and Human Resources” for district courts, improving “Courtrooms for All” with a focus on accessibility, and ensuring “Judicial Security and Wellness.”

The second day will cover “Case Management” to address case handling and pendency issues, and “Judicial Training – Curriculum and Methods” to refine judge training programs. There will also be a session on “Bridging the Gap” to discuss how higher courts can better support district judiciary needs.

Supreme Court judges, High Court Chief Justices, and other judicial leaders will participate. The conference aims to foster collaboration and address challenges in the district judiciary, enhancing the effectiveness and accessibility of justice in India.
