SC Urges Prompt Decision from Centre on NEET MDS 2024

The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Centre to promptly decide on the representation regarding the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2024.

During the hearing of a petition seeking the postponement of the NEET-MDS 2024 test, the Centre informed the top court that they are currently examining the matter.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, suggested waiting for some time, acknowledging the government’s ongoing review. The court also noted the challenges in extending cut-off dates.

The court emphasized that determining the cut-off date falls within the policy domain and suggested leaving the decision to the government.

Subsequently, the court urged the Centre to expedite the decision on the representation, preferably within one week.

The cut-off date for the NEET MDS internship is scheduled for March 31, 2024.
