SCBA Embraces Multilingualism, Issued Circulars in Vernacular

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has taken a groundbreaking initiative by issuing its communications and circulars in vernacular languages, including Hindi and Urdu, in addition to the customary English communications.

“For the first time in the history of the Supreme Court Bar, we have opted to issue circulars in Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, and Assamese as well. The Supreme Court represents the diversity of India,” stated Rohit Pandey, Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

“More languages will soon be included in our circulars,” added the bar leader.

Apart from English, the SCBA has released circulars in six languages concerning the felicitation event scheduled for Wednesday evening in honor of SC judges- Justices Satish Chandra Sharma, Augustine George Masih, Sandeep Mehta, and Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will preside over the function, as announced by the SCBA.

Previously, the Supreme Court had decided to render its judgments in select regional languages.
