The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of 2 advocates, Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla, as judges of the Allahabad High Court.
The decision was made during a Collegium meeting held on March 25.

The recommendation comes at a time when the Allahabad High Court is dealing with a severe shortage of judges. As of March 1, the court is operating with only 79 judges, despite having a sanctioned strength of 160.
The appointments are expected to help address this shortfall and improve the court’s efficiency in handling pending cases.
The final decision on their appointment will be made by the Central Government after reviewing the Collegium’s recommendation.
