Supreme Court Decries Use of Children as Pawns in Bitter Custody Disputes

Child Custody- Legally speaking

The Supreme Court expressed concern on Monday about a child’s welfare caught in a custody battle.

Justices PV Sanjay Kumar and Augustine George Masih urged the parents to prioritize the child’s care during the harsh Delhi summer instead of fighting. Noting the child’s illness since November, Justice Kumar remarked, “You have not found a good pediatrician yet. Both parents are making a pawn of their child. Absolutely terrible.” Justice Masih added, “We are only concerned with the child’s rights. Take care of your child in this extreme heat.”

The Court emphasized the importance of safeguarding the child’s rights and interests. After hearing from both parties, the Court granted the father visitation rights.
