Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issued an apology to the Supreme Court after the court expressed strong displeasure over his comments regarding the bail granted to BRS leader K Kavitha.
In a post on X, CM Reddy clarified that he has “the highest regard and full faith in the Indian Judiciary” and that his comments were misinterpreted, leading to the impression that he questioned the court’s wisdom. He emphasized his respect for the judiciary and expressed regret for any misunderstanding.
The Supreme Court, particularly a bench of Justices BR Gavai, Prashant Kumar Mishra, and KV Viswanathan, criticized Reddy’s remarks, reminding him that the judiciary respects the legislature and expects the same in return. The court also warned that the trial could be moved out of Telangana if the Chief Minister continues to disrespect the judiciary.
This came after Reddy reportedly questioned how Kavitha received bail within five months while others, like Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal, faced longer wait times.
K Kavitha was released from Tihar Jail on August 27 following the Supreme Court’s decision to grant her bail amid ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in the ‘excise policy case’ by the CBI and ED.
