The Standards Of BAR Going Down! SC On Lawyer Seeking Plea Withdrawal During Judgment

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India voiced concern on Friday over a counsel trying to withdraw a plea as the top court was delivering its decision in the case.

A bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice Krishna Murari was about to deliver decision in the case of Hemantbhai Balvantbhai Patel and Anr v State of Gujarat and Anr when the counsel in the case requested that the appeal be withdrawn.

The Bench was dismayed by the same and criticized the Bar’s declining standards.

“This is unimaginable. You have reduced court proceedings to a mockery. This shows the standards of the Supreme Court BAR going down. I cannot believe this. You made us believe that you can pay and now this? You cannot do this during pronouncement of judgment counsel! you can’t,” Justice Shah stated.
