After Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s first address in the Rajya Sabha, the Government vs Supreme Court tussle over the appointment of judges has again come into limelight.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s called the parliamentary mandate on it “historic” and said that it was “undone by the Supreme Court on October 16, 2015, by a majority of 4:1 finding the same as not being in consonance with the judicially evolved doctrine of ‘Basic Structure’ of the Constitution”.

The government’s three pillars should respect their ‘Laxman Rekha’ and termed it an instance of ‘severe compromise of parliamentary sovereignty’, he added
