The vacation in the Supreme Court will start from today, which will continue till January 1, 2023. After that the work will start again from January 2.
Earlier the Supreme Court had issued a circular on December 16 saying that “in urgent matters, on a court holiday or after court hours, any advocate may approach the notified officer of the registry and a bench will be constituted, if necessary”.
The circular states that the officer who will be, will scrutinize the papers, seek instructions from the competent authority and thereafter inform the concerned advocate about the instructions.
On December 16, the Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had said that no vacation bench will sit in the Supreme Court this time during the winter holidays. On December 16, when the court sat for hearing, at the same time CJI DY Chandrachud said that the winter vacations are starting from December 19, now the court will open on January 2.
