The Kerala High Court has recently directed the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations to extend the deadline for the upload of Plus Two Examination marks for 33 students of St. Paul’s Public School, Thrissur, who are appearing for the KEAM-2023 (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) Entrance Exam.
A single-judge Justice P V Kunhikrishnan passed the order after 33 pointed anomaly in the Mathematics internal or practical marks awarded to them by the school. They sought a directive for the issuance of revised mark sheets reflecting the accurate marks and an extension of the time limit for uploading these mark sheets on the KEAM-2023 portal.
The bench sternly warned the school that if the students’ concerns were not addressed, the school’s recognition could be revoked.
“The school, in consultation with CBSE, must address this grievance. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of the school’s recognition,” the order stated.
Subsequently, the CBSE counsel assured the court that necessary measures would be taken. In its order, the bench also emphasized that students should not suffer due to the mistakes made by the school authorities.
Consequently, the School Authorities requested that CBSE allocate double marks to the petitioner students in their Mathematics internals. As a result, the students’ marks were revised proportionally based on their theory marks.
“The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the CBSE submitted that the competent authority of the Board has considered the request of the school for revision of internal assessment marks in the Mathematics and decided to give marks on pro rata of the theory marks. It is also informed that the 25 students’ internal assessment marks have been increased positively whereas 3 students’ internal assessment marks are decreased. However, the same was not given effect treated as no change in the interest of the student. Other 5 students were not changed any mark on pro rata basis is the submission,” the bench noted.
Subsequently, the students were directed to upload their modified mark sheets in the candidate portal.
