The Delhi High Court on Monday took cognisance of an Aam Aadmi Party petition contesting the Directorate of Estates’ alleged ex parte cancellation of its State Party Office allotment in New Delhi.
Justice Sachin Datta has summoned responses from the Union of India and the Directorate and listed the matter for hearing on August 12.
Challenge To Market-Rate Rent
Alongside the cancellation dispute, AAP has filed an application to stay two rent-demand notices, which bill the party at prevailing market rates for occupying the office from September 14, 2024, to April 29, 2025.
Allegation Of Procedural Lapses
The petition claims the cancellation order dated September 14, 2024, was never formally served; AAP first learned of it only via a letter on January 17, 2025, which enclosed the unshared order and demanded compliance.
The party argues this contravenes the Government’s 1963 General Pool Residential Allotment Rules and related Directorate instructions.
Justice Datta has directed that all parties submit their replies before the next listing in August.
