A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the release of the web series being made on Delhi’s Uphaar cinema fire tragedy. By filing a petition in the Delhi High Court, Sushil Ansal has demanded a stay on the release of the series. Delhi High Court will hear this petition on Wednesday. Netflix is making a web series based on Uphaar Cinema incident. This web series named ‘Trial by Fire’ is releasing on January 13 on the OTT platform Netflix.
Sushil Ansal in its petition said that his reputation will be further damaged by the airing of this web series made on Uphaar cinema tragedy. While he has been punished legally and socially for that tragedy. Ansal also says that the series made on the tragedy will defame me and this series also violates the right to privacy. In view of this, the High Court should issue an order to ban its release, the plea said
The victim Shekhar Krishnamurthy told Legally Speaking that this series will tell the truth of the tragedy to those who have only read or heard it. It will also highlight the shortcomings in India’s legal system besides underlining the persistence and patience it takes for anyone engaged in litigation in the country
