2020 Delhi Riots Cases: Special Public Prosecutor Resigns

Amit Prasad, the Special Public Prosecutor representing the Delhi Police in the cases related to the communal violence in North-East Delhi in February 2020, has submitted his resignation letter to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.

“I was appointed as Special Public Prosecutor for Delhi Riots 2020 Cases, which I have been handling for the past 3% years. During this period, I have diligently prosecuted the cases to the best of my ability,” Prasad mentioned in his letter.

“However, I am no longer able to continue, and therefore, I am tendering my resignation with immediate effect. I request that my resignation be accepted forthwith. I appreciate the opportunity given to me,” he added.

Prasad will continue to serve as the SPP in the Shraddha Walkar murder case.
