An Indian woman has filed a lawsuit against Hilton Hotels after she was allegedly robbed in one of its hotels in Madrid, Spain.
The lawsuit was filed in Plaza de Castilla, Spain, by Jasmeet Kaur, CEO of KBI Industries and a resident of Noida.
Kaur posted about her ordeal on social media, alleging that on January 27 robbers assaulted her and stole her belongings.
In the lawsuit, she mentioned that the hotel had no security arrangements.
“Hilton hotel put my security in danger. No action was taken against the culprits. I had paid a huge amount for my stay as per the request of the hotel management. This could have been avoided if the hotel staff and management had acted swiftly.” Kaur stated.
She has demanded compensation for the mental trauma and pain caused by the incident.
The victim blamed the hotel officials and the Indian Embassy in Spain for ignoring her complaints.
She claimed that she was stranded in a foreign country with no money, and that despite filing a FIR with the nearest police station in Madrid, no action was taken against the perpetrators.
She also stated that she is in contact with a lawyer in Spain who is assisting her with the case.
Kaur further stated that the matter of women’s safety in luxury hotels is a matter of international concern.
In this regard, she has written to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of External Affairs, emphasising how the safety of women in luxury hotels is a global concern.
“Women are not safe anywhere in the world. I respectfully request that the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. Jaishankar, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and other officials assist me in this matter.
