Man Arrested for Strangling Friend to Death

Strangling

Police have arrested a man for allegedly strangling another in a fit of rage during a party in south Delhi’s Khirki Extension area, as per officials.

Virender, a resident of Sonipat, was arrested over a month after the killing on April 11.

Complicated Relationships

As per the police, Virender had been in a relationship with both the victim and his mother. There was initial animosity between the two men when the victim discovered Virender’s relationship with his mother, but they later became friends.

The victim allegedly invited Virender, 33, to a party at his flat where the former “challenged his masculinity,” police said. Enraged, Virender strangled him and fled the scene, they stated.

Discovery of the Body

“On April 13, the body of a 23-year-old was found by his roommate in their rental flat at Khirki Extension. The roommate, who had returned from his night shift in Gurgaon, alerted the police through a PCR call,” DCP (crime) Rakesh Pawariya stated.

The officer also stated that the body was moved for a post-mortem examination, and that a FIR had been filed at Malviya Nagar Police Station to investigate the case.

Efforts to Apprehend the Suspects

“Raids were carried out in a number of locations to apprehend the accused, including Dehradun, Haridwar, Delhi, and Gurgaon. While one suspect, Mohit, was apprehended by local police, the primary accused, Virender, escaped arrest,” the DCP stated. Police later learned that Virender planned to meet with an associate in Gurugram’s Rajendra Nagar area on May 21.

“A team was formed, and Virender was nabbed, confessing to his involvement in the murder,” Pawariya said.

Confession and Background

According to the officer, Virender was working with his cousin Mohit for a motorcycle taxi aggregator in the NCR region. The DCP stated that during interrogation, it was discovered that Virender had illicit relations with the victim’s mother about two years ago. This initially resulted in animosity but later turned into friendship between the two.
On April 11, the victim invited Virender to a party at his flat for drinks.

The officer confirmed that Virender and Mohit attended the party. “After drinking, the victim questioned Virender’s masculinity, which enraged him.” Pawariya explained that Virender strangled him to death and fled the scene in a fit of rage.
