MPPSC 2024: Case Filed Over Alleged Sale of Fake Exam Paper

MPPSC 2024

The Indore police have filed a case against an unidentified individual for allegedly attempting to sell a counterfeit question paper of the Madhya Pradesh state service exam online, falsely claiming it was leaked, an official stated on Monday.

Acting on a complaint filed by a vigilance officer of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC), the case was formally registered on Sunday night under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, as stated by an official from Sanyogitaganj police station.

A candidate participating in the state service examination mentioned that rumors of the paper leak originated from an account on the social media platform ‘Telegram’, where it was asserted that question papers for the preliminary round of the MPPSC exam were available for Rs 2,500 each. The candidate noted that a QR code was also provided on this account for payments.

Ravindra Panchbhai, Officer on Special Duty at MPPSC, informed PTI that a “suspicious” question paper had surfaced on social media two days earlier, falsely claiming to be the leaked ‘General Studies’ subject paper. “We compared the suspicious question paper with the genuine one used in the preliminary round of the state service exam conducted last Sunday and confirmed it to be fake,” he stated.

As per officials, approximately 1.83 lakh candidates were eligible to appear in the preliminary round of the examination held on Sunday across 55 district headquarters in the state.

The examination was held for 110 positions, including 15 posts of deputy collector and 22 of deputy superintendent of police, officials added.
