Sitakulchi Firing: 6 CISF Personnel Grants Interim Bail

The 6 CISF personnel are accused in the Sitakulchi firing have been recently granted interim bail by the Mathabhanga sub-divisional court.

In 2021, 6 CISF personnel allegedly opened fire in self-defense which killed at least 4 people outside booth number 126/5 in Jorpatki in the Sitalkuchi Assembly constituency of Cooch Behar district, West Bengal, during the 4th phase of polling for the Assembly election held on April 10 that year.

An investigation by Bengal CID is underway in the case.

All 6 CISF personnel appeared before the Mathabhanga sub-divisional court for a bail hearing and were granted relief by the court.

The firing during voting in the Cooch Behar district took the national limelight and triggered a fierce war of words between the TMC & BJP.
