The Central government recently approved the appointment of new Chief Justices for the Allahabad, Chhattisgarh and Patna High Courts.

Justice Pritinker Diwaker for the Allahabad High Court, Justice Ramesh Sinha for the Chhattisgarh High Court, and Justice Vinod Chandran for the Patna High Court are the new Chief Justices.

On February 9, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Diwaker Chief as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

The Chhattisgarh High Court is the parent High Court of Justice Diwaker, who was born in 1961. After earning his law degree from Jabalpur’s Durgawati University, he registered as an advocate in 1984.

He was appointed Senior Advocate in January 2005, and on March 31, 2009, he was elevated to the position of Chhattisgarh High Court judge. From October 3, 2018, he has served as a judge of the Allahabad High Court.

On February 9, the Collegium recommended Justice Sinha for appointment as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Allahabad’s High Court is his parent court.

In December 2022, the Collegium first recommended Justice Chandran for appointment as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

On February 7, however, the Collegium revoked its decision and suggested that he be appointed as Chief Justice of Patna High Court instead.

The Kerala High Court’s most senior judge is Justice Chandran. On November 8, 2011, he was sworn in as an additional judge of the Kerala High Court. On June 24, 2013, he was appointed permanently, and his retirement is due on April 24, 2025.
