Gurugram Court Sentences 2 Men for Firing at Police Team

A Gurugram Court has sentenced two men to 10 years of imprisonment for firing at a police team in 2018.

The court of additional district and sessions judge Mona Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on both accused.

The 2018 Incident

On July 29, 2018, the Palam Vihar crime unit, acting on a tip-off about two criminals, had set up a barricade on the Dwarka Expressway. When the team spotted two men approaching on a motorcycle and signaled them to stop, the duo took a U-turn and fired at the team while fleeing. One of the assailants sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the exchange of fire and was promptly taken to a hospital. The other managed to escape.

Arrested

Following medical treatment, the police apprehended Rajesh alias Gurga, a native of Sarai Alawardi village. The next day, they also arrested his accomplice, identified as Rahul, a resident of Ashok Garden in Gurugram.
